well i really didn't intend to leave xanga... but what in the world? facebook has taken over!!
and frankly i ran out of clever & interesting things to say.
i mean, seriously.  who cares what kind of cup i use to drink my tea???
so here i am ~ home alone ~ updating xanga b/c in reality i'm trying to avoid making my walmart list.
that is a pretty pathetic reason to update.

life is good here at our house... i really love fall.

i made a life-changing decision today.
it happened when i was going through my morning routine at the office:  washing out the coffee pot & my pretty teacup & filling up the water jug for our coffee maker. in the process i knocked my teacup to the floor & it broke to pieces. fortunately i was not having an emotional day, so i didn't cry.
but it did bring me face-to-face with a dilemma....
WHAT WILL I DRINK MY COFFEE/TEA FROM TODAY???

this is when i made my decision... actually i guess it would be a principle. it's this...

LIFE IS TOO SHORT
TO DRINK FROM A STYROFOAM CUP.

so for today i borrowed a teacup from myself that i was using for decorative purposes.
tomorrow i will take in two teacups... one to use & one as a spare.
i just can't chance styrofoam.

summer's over... my "getting ready for registration" checklist is all checked off... the mailbox labels are up...  copies are ready for my student worker meeting... the workroom is dusted... the bulletin boards are refreshed...
so now we're just waiting for them to return...
i wish they'd hurry up.

amy & brooke, i loved the quick chat yesterday.

our life has been a whirlwind.... really, since the state tournament.  here's a blip...

  • two weeks ago today ~ clark county babe ruth won the state tournament by beating bryant TWICE in one night. that was sweet, i do have to say so.
  • scrambling to make hotel reservations & other plans to go to regionals
  • a week ago today ~ left for levelland, texas ~ we made it in 9-1/2 hours
  • thursday ~ met caleb & chanin's host family, the martins ~ some of the nicest, most generous people in the world
  • friday ~ opening ceremony ~ a cool sight w/ all those teams & their state flags
  • friday night ~ got put in the loser's bracket by jefferson parish, louisiana 9-1 (closer game than the score shows)... jparish won the WORLD series as 14-yr-olds last year. these people are serious about baseball.
  • saturday ~ beat plainview, texas 9-3
  • sunday ~ beat host team, levelland texas 14-1
  • some in our crowd started calling the hogs on sunday, so i had to go buy one of those cute pink longhorn caps i've been wanting.
newsflash: just b/c someone lives in arkansas does not mean they are a hogs fan ~ shocking but true
  • monday 12:30 ~ beat orange grove, mississippi 14-4
  • monday 7:30 ~ beat del rio, texas 4-0
  • tuesday 10am ~ beat hugo, oklahoma 10-2
  • tuesday 1pm ~ lost in the championship to the team we started with ~ jefferson parish, louisiana 13-0 (as bad as the score shows )
  • caleb brought home a 2nd place trophy & their team won the sportsmanship award... we also had the tournament MVP on our team ~ we were proud!
  • seven ball games in five days ~ the guys were worn out & we are sunburned!
  • said good-bye to host families ~ packed the car ~ headed for arkansas
  • got home about 3am this morning ~ went back to work today

by the way ~ signs in arkansas show the speed limit on top & the speed for trucks on the bottom. did you know that the signs in texas show the DAY speed limit on top & the NIGHT speed limit on the bottom?    yeah. neither did we.    that's all i'll say on that topic.( for chanin)

summer is officially over for me. i need a nap.
